53. Income of Jagannath temple

Income of Jagannath temple:

A large sum of money is spent for the management of the temple. This money is collected from different sources. 

The particulars regarding the sources are given below: 

1. Income from the landed property, i.e, from the crops sold, stone quarries and forests leased out etc.

2. Sale of Mahaprasad

3. Sale of wood used in the chariots

4. Sale proceeds of books, magazines etc, published by Temple administration.

5. Fee for layings slabs containing different memoirs in the premises

6. Fees for tying flags on the top of the temple, offering ornaments to the deities to wear etc.

7. Rent from the shops within the premises

8. Leasing out Narendra Tank etc, for fishing. 

9. Pindika, ie, the donation of the pilgrims

10. Special donations of different people in shape of gold, cash etc. 

A Gift From A King: 

After King Purusottama conquered one country, he took one manikya throne to Jagannatha Puri and presented it to Lord Jagannath.
